Linfield Industrial Park: Future Power Plant?

It's still early in the process, but Linfield Industrial Park could soon become a trash-burning, energy-generating "power plant." According to this article, the general idea is to ship trash in by rail and convert it into renewable energy. Not a bad use for the site, though we're loathe to lose another good urbexing spot.

Bluecapriethan's Michter's Distillery Shots

Photobucket

Michter's, aka Bomberger's Distillery, is an abandonment we've discussed quite a bit in comment sections of many of our posts. While Brian and I are still planning on heading up there after we explore some places in Luzerne County, Bluecapriethan has already gotten some good photos of the distillery. Here's what he had to say about them:

I said I was going to get them, so here they are. I finally got a weekend free so I drove on up to Michter's with my wife. I wanted to get out and take pictures, but there were locals milling about (I've heard they are unfriendly) so I snapped a bunch from the car.

Thanks again to Bluecapriethan for letting us use these photos. Michter's is one of the oldest PA abandonments we know of, and one of the least explored.

If you have photos from abandoned places in PA, and you'd like to see them on ForgottenPA, just send an email to spampoet0023@yahoo.com.

Petition to Preserve Pennhurst

Any PA urban explorer will tell you that the Pennhurst State School -- more a prison for the mentally challenged -- is one of the most fascinating, and disturbing, places to explore in Pennsylvania.

It's much more than that, though. Pennhurst is a vivid illustration of the way the mentally handicapped were once treated, and a local movement is trying to preserve Pennhurst as a memorial for those who suffered and died there.

I just want to give a plug for these guys -- I've signed the petition (using my real name, no less!) and I hope you will, too.

About ForgottenPA

Created by Al Ebaster in 2007 after a trip to Centralia, ForgottenPA has become one of Pennsylvania's most popular urban-exploration websites. Brian is our photographer, and we're happy to have Ethan Smith, aka Bluecapriethan in the comment sections, on board as an author and photographer as well.

We're always accepting photo submissions! Email your photos to spampoet0023@gmail.com, with a few words about where and when they were taken.

Want to join us? If you have a Blogger/Gmail account and a passion for Pennsylvania abandonments, send us some urban-exploration photos and a few words about yourself to spampoet0023@gmail.com. Our authors retain all rights to the material they post, and are free to publish anything relevant to PA urban exploration at their own pace.
